Men With Chronic Epididymitis Should Keep Lifestyle Changes

Chronic epididymitis is the inflammation or infection of epididymis, which collects and stores maturing sperm made by the testicles prior to ejaculation. It happens to men of all ages, especially in men at the age of 14 to 39. It’s commonly treated with  antibiotics. Adjuvant measures, such as bed rest with support of the scrotum and anti-inflammatory agents (such as ibuprofen or ketoprofen), may help relieve discomfort caused by epididymitis. However, if the antibiotics develop drug resistance, male patients should take a different medicine such as herbal medicine called diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill. It’s made from natural herbs without side effects. Though there are many effective medicine for epididymitis, patients shouldn’t ignore the lifestyle changes during the medication treatment.

Firstly, men need to have a bed rest for 3 or 4 days and avoid high intensity activities. Otherwise, the symptoms of epididymitis will be aggravated. It will slow the recovery of the disease.

Secondly, men are prohibited taking alcohol, tobacco as well as spicy foods. The reason why patients should prohibit these things is that they can irritate the inflammation and infection which will effect the curative effect of treatment.

Thirdly, patients should avoid excessive sex, wash the perineum before and after sex and wear loose cotton underwear. Excessive sex easily lead to prostate congestion, which is not conducive to the recovery of this disease; while cleaning the perineum and genitals can avoid bacteria, inflammation and infections; loose, breathable and cotton underwear mainly allow the scrotum, testicles in an "air" state, which is not conducive to microbial growth.

These are the measures during the treatment of chronic epididymitis. In fact, it’s also necessary to keep lifestyle changes after getting a cure so as prevent from relapse.

Epididymitis is commonly among men who are sexually active, thus, it can also caused by STDs like Chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Therefore, if you have symptoms of epididymitis, reduce the risk of spreading a possible infection to your partner by avoiding sexual intercourse until you can be examined by your doctor. It is important for sex partners to be evaluated and treated for a possible infection. Both of you should avoid sex until you are cured completely.
